The Da Vinci Code 2

So far the book has been excellent. It has exceeded my expectations for it. One of the elements I love most about the book is the constant cliff hangers it has. For instance, at the end of chapter 46 Brown writes," I have just received news. Most unexpected and welcome. The secret lives. Jacques Sauniere transferred information before he died. I will call you soon. Our work tonight is not yet done" (Brown 267). This cliffhanger makes the reader constantly have to read chapter after chapter because you can never come to a conclusion. Cliff hangers, like these, are at the end of every chapter and they kept me on my toes. I made the read very enjoyable for me. The one element that surprised me, and I enjoy are the constant facts about Da Vinci or secret societies. At one point of the book the main character, Robert Langdon, explained that the church wanted to banish other religions so everyone only followed christianity. By doing this they changed the viewing of women, which the other religions respect and worship, in order to make people draw away from these religions. Langdon even states, "The Catholic inquisition published the book that arguably could be called the most blood-soaked publication in human history. Malleus Maleficarum - or The Witches' Hammer - indoctrinated 'the world to the dangers of free thinking women'" (Brown 212). There are many facts in the book like this which teach me things I would have never known. I'm hoping the rest of the book sticks to the same style.

The Da Vinci Code Entry 1

The book I have begun to read is The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. Doing some research I have found that The Da Vinci Code was said to be Dan browns greatest book. It has been translated to 52 different languages and has sold over 200 million copies. Because of this book Dan Brown was voted in the top 100 most influential people by Time magazine.

The book is considered crime fiction and conspiracy fiction. With that and the fact that I saw the movie Angels and Demons, which was based of one of Dan Brown’s books, I would like to predict that this book will revolve around a murder. And if it is similar to Angels and Demons the only way to solve it is through discovering symbols and historical clues that will eventually lead them to what they want. I believe in this book they want to find the Holy Grail and solve the murder that took place. So far in my reading there has been a ton of history that has been explained and its brought up these secret sects. This is all said to be historically accurate which makes the book all the more better.
